1955 - 2012 | Obituary Condolences
John M. White, age 56, of Johnstown Township, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1955, in Cleveland, a son of John M. and Shirley (Keleshian) White. Formerly of Willoughby, John had lived in Johnston since 1990.
He was employed by General Motors for over 35 years. The last 22 years he worked in the GM Fab plant in Lordstown.
John was a 1974 graduate of South High School in Willoughby, a member of the Rock of Grace Family Ministries Church in Kinsman and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved animals.
John loved his family and was especially close to his sisters and their families, known as the "favorite Uncle." He had a great sense of humor and way of making people around him laugh. He will be sadly missed by all his family and numerous friends.
John is survived by his wife, Sonja (Koren) White, whom he married Aug. 6, 1977; two sons, Adam (Melissa) White of Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Eric White of New Castle, Pa.; two grandsons, Michael and Maurice White of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; mother, Shirley White of Mentor; four sisters, Darlene (Nick) Ciani of Mentor, Shirley (Wayne) Gordon of Concord Township, Theresa (Tim) Whinnery of Smyrna, Tenn., and Betty (Dave) Schaefer of Medina; and nieces and nephews, Kevin, Leah, Nicholas Jr., Kimberlee, Angela, Hunter, Matthew, Sean (Brandy), Timothy, Destiny, David Jr., and Valarie.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Christine English.
A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Rock of Grace Church, 6745 State Route 5, Kinsman, OH 44428. Pastor Mark Biel will be officiating.
Calling hours will be from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the church. In honor of John his family will be wearing and invites everyone to wear camouflage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rock of Grace Church or the MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
