John W. Baker, 83, of Mentor, formerly of Willowick, died Wednesday, Sept.4, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 25, 1929 in McKeesport, Pa.
Mr. Baker was a retired Toolmaker from the former Picker X-Ray Corp. where he worked for 25 years. He was a US Army Veteran.
John was a member of the United Methodist Church, Willoughby Lodge #302, F&AM, Valley of Scottish Rite, Al Koran Shiners. He was a graduate of Coraopolis Senior High School, Class of 1948 and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He volunteered at Lake West Hospital. He was a former Cub Scout leader and also the past Commander of the Painesville Power Squadron.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Miriam "Jean" Baker of Mentor; as a beloved father who will be greatly missed by his children, Karen (Edward) Condo of Austinburg, Nancy (Rick) Boldin of Mentor and John G. (Marcy) Baker of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Bradlee Marian (Betty), Tara Petroff, Richard Boldin (Rachel Sholtis), Leigh-Ann (Daniel) Jindra, Megan Baker and Erin Baker; four great-grandchildren, Arianna, Alex, Jack and Madeline; sister, Ensie (John) Murphy of Fla.
A private family service will be held at Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.
