Joseph A. Geizer, 81, of Mentor-on-the-Lake for the past 55 years and formerly of Eastlake, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Heartland of Mentor.
He was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Worchester, N.Y.
Mr. Geizer was an operating engineer for Local 18 in Cleveland, of which he was a lifelong member. He also worked at All Saints School as a custodian for six years. Joe enjoyed fishing, boating and especially spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Claudia (Fox) Geizer; children, Theresa (Robert) Kovacs and Joseph (Heidi) Geizer, both of Chardon and Karen (William) Boncha of Mentor; grandchildren, James, Chris, Stacey, Patrick, Erica, Jason, Jamie, Jeffrey and Brittany, and great-grandchildren, Joseph Andrew Geizer II, Sarah, Katie, Alyssa, Abigail, Billy and Ryan.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Margaret Geizer; sister, Mary Ellen Scrimshaw; and infant brother, Robert Geizer.
Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Interment will be at Mentor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
