Joseph Smith Walling Funeral service for Joseph Smith Walling, age 75, of Painesville, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, 428 W. Jackson Street, Painesville. Mr. Walling died Sept. 28, 2010, at Homestead II Nursing Home in Painesville. He was born Sept. 5, 1935, in McMinnville, Tenn. Mr. Walling was employed as a laborer for area nurseries. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Wallace) Gibson of Indianapolis, Ind.; stepdaughters, Sally (Eusebio) Salgado and Rachel (Craig) Harrigan both of Oregon, stepson, Arron Hester of McMinnville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife, Mary E. Walling; stepson, John Hester; brothers, Raymond and Marcus; parents, Smith and Josephine (McKinley) Walling and Betty Lou Walling. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. The Rev. Vincent R. Miller will officiate. Interment will take place in McMinnville, Tenn.
