Leonard "Denver" Allen, 75, passed away Oct. 17, 2013, at his home in Perry.
Born March 16, 1938, in West Union, W.Va., Mr. Allen was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed riding Harleys, woodworking and racing cars at Lake County Speedway, Cloverleaf and Lorain Speedway. He was a beloved husband, terrific father and loving papa who spent lots of time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Allen retired after 28 years of service from Matlack Trucking as a driver. He also worked for IRC Fibers, Brown's Furniture and Star Excavating. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Emogene (Wilson); children, Cynthia (Dave) Brown, Susan (Danny) Milkovich, Deena Pastula, Carol (Dale) March, Reamona (Gary) Scott, Jimmy and Rob (Linda) Stackpole; grandchildren, Shane and David Brown, Kristy (Chris) Sammet, Samantha and Dale March, Donnie (Janette) and Ricky (Geri) Snyder, and Amber, Autumn and Miranda Scott; great-grandchildren, Allie and Slade; sister, Glenna Morgan; sister-in-law, Carolyn Pierce; and brother-in-law, Sherwood (Linda) Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dear friend, Arnett "Pops" Titus and family.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Opal (Williams) Allen; brother, Darryl; sister, Donna; son, Donnie Paul Snyder; in-laws, Guy and Garnet Wilson; and dear friend, Sonny Thomas.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Lou Noggy officiating. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery.
