Marvin J. Fowler Sr., 81, of Painesville Township, formerly of Mentor and Madison, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 17, 1932, in Auburn.
Mr. Fowler retired as director of purchasing from the Medusa Corp. in Cleveland Heights, where he worked for 10 years. Before that, he had worked at Republic Steel in Cleveland for 20 years.
Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 1st Infantry during the Korean War. He was a graduate of John Carroll University, earning a BSBA degree in 1975. Marvin loved to vacation on Sanibel Island, Fla., and go antiquing with his wife.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol J. Fowler; children, M. John (Danelle) Fowler Jr. of Strongsville, Catherine (James) Fowler-Karavias of Portland, Ore., Russell (Kelly) Fowler of Wauwatosa, Wis., Brian (Roxana Rojas) Fowler of Mentor and Andrea (David) Irland of Cuyahoga Falls; and 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Anna, Laura, Theo, Kyle, Emma, Sara, Haley, Shaun and Elise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Fowler; and sister, Marilyn Cowie.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Immediately after the service, interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
