Funeral services for Merle Franklin Jr., 69, of Mentor, will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Pastor James Burr of Bread of Life Anglican Church in Painesville will officiate.
Mr. Franklin passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Feb. 27, 1944, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for 54 years, living in Willowick before moving to Mentor.
Merle was a 1963 graduate of Eastlake North High School, enjoyed fishing and was a member of the 5th Chapter Motorcycle Club for more than 20 years.
Mr. Franklin worked as a machinist at T.R.W. and also worked for Willoughby-Eastlake Schools.
He was the loving father of Denise (Thomas) Jones of Painesville, Dawn (Jim) McGee of Painesville and Michelle (John) Shaffer of Painesville Township; cherished grandfather of eight; great-grandfather of six; and brother of Betty Malone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (nee Coy) and Merle Franklin Sr.; and brother, Wayne Franklin.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Catawba Island Township Cemetery in Port Clinton.
