Funeral Mass for Michael A. Cipo, 65, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.

Mr. Cipo passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born June 21, 1948, in Cleveland, he had been a Lake County resident for the past six years, living in Mentor. He had previously been a resident of Euclid.
Mr. Cipo was a homicide detective for the Cleveland Police Department and retired after 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and a member of the Col. Justice M. Chambers Foundation of the Marine Corps League. He was a member of St. Vianney Church and a former member of Holy Cross in Euclid.
Michael loved motorcycles, riding and taught motorcycle classes.
He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Katherine R. (nee Sovizral) Cipo; loving father of Michael J. (Zulaida) Cipo of Titusville, Fla., Steven J. Cipo of Mentor and Joseph A. Cipo of Concord Township; cherished grandfather of Anthony and Adriana; and brother of Herb (Mary Ann) Wilson of Solon and Elizabeth Cipo Williams of Lyndhurst. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; and was a friend to all.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary (nee Medves) Cipo; and brother, Andy Cipo.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Burial will be private.
