Michael Kemp Obituary
He was born on April 7, 1958, in Cleveland. He was a 35-year resident of Kirtland, previously residing in Euclid.
Michael was very devoted to his family and especially loved his nieces and nephews. Michael enjoyed hiking, walking, reading, art, growing tomatoes, and especially helping out his Mom. He also was a fan of Star Trek and all kinds of different music. His family describes him as being generous with gifts for his family as well as his time - he would always cover for a fellow firefighter. He had a heart of gold and was soft-spoken and gentle.
He was serving as a firefighter for the city of Cleveland Station #30 just having completed his 30th year of service June 2.
Michael is survived by his mother, Rose (Oravecz) Kemp; sisters, Katherine (Richard) Ventura, Mary Beth (William) Baxley and Carolyn Namciu; nieces and nephews, Meghan and Andrew Ventura, Rosie and Alyssa Baxley, and Johnny and twins Juliana and Lauren Namciu; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Kemp.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland.
The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Michael on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop and Route 91). The Rev. David Woost will officiate the Mass. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.

Oh my GOD I did not know that Michael has passed until I read your Mom's death notice. I am so very very sorry to hear about this. Such a terrible loss for your family. Michael was such a nice guy. I know I haven't seen any of you for about 20 years but I still remember everyone. Take care.

My thoughts and prayers to your family, Michael was such a wonderful example of what a true firefighter is. He was so dedicated to his calling, his fellow firefighters, his family, the citizens, etc. He always had a smile on his face. What a wonderful human being. I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless.
