Neil Crookshanks Obituary
Mr. Crookshanks passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Southwest General Medical Center in Middleburg Heights.
Born Feb. 1, 1934, in Willoughby, he lived in Mentor for 55 years before moving to Strongsville 22 years ago.
He enjoyed polka dances and attending stock and NASCAR races. He was also a member of Carpenter's Local 1750 in Cleveland.
Mr. Crookshanks worked for Schaefer Roofing from 1952 until 1974, when he started his own company, Crookshanks and Sons Roofing, Inc., which he operated until his retirement in 2008.
Survivors are his wife of 22 years, Adelle; children, Lawrence (Denise) Crookshanks of Concord Township, David (Lori) Crookshanks of Mentor, Susan (Warren) Nelson of Dayton, Neil W. (June) Crookshanks of Mentor-on-the-Lake and Dennis (Rebecca) Crookshanks of Chardon; grandchildren, Lindsey, Michael, twins Jason and Justin, Amber, Joey, twins Kurt and Kyle, Chamois and Katie; and brothers, Vern (Claudia) Crookshanks of Thompson Township, Wayne (Loretta) Crookshanks of Concord Township, Noreen (Dick) Ensign of Chardon and Vivian (Les) Tinner of Unionville. He also enjoyed spending time with his Adelle's family, Paul and Kathy Harris; and their children, Katie and Brent of Madison, Conn.
His parents, John Howard and Eva Crookshanks; daughter, Theresa Rose Crookshanks; and sister, Jean Williamson, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
