Olga "Vi" Schoeppler Obituary
Funeral services for Olga "Vi" Schoeppler will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North Street, Chardon. Pastor H. Daniel Drew presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson Township.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
Vi died on Tuesday at age 91. She was the daughter of William Roy and Janet (Jenny) Vipond of Kalkaska, Michigan.
A Registered Nurse, she graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, where she met Jake Schoeppler, her husband of 61 years.
Vi was the mother of three children, Susan of Newport News, Virginia, Kurt (Lori) of Willoughby and Scot of Buford, Georgia. When her children were young, she was a full-time mother and homemaker while her husband's work took the family to East Lansing, Michigan, Wisconsin, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Ohio. Vi returned to and retired from Geauga Community Hospital in Chardon. After relocating several times, the family moved to the Bass Lake Community in Munson Township, where they spent 42 wonderful years. At the time of her passing, Vi was a resident of Breckenridge Village in Willoughby.
Vi's loving care enabled her husband Jake to die peacefully at home in Bass Lake in 2010. Vi was also preceded in death by her sisters, Janet Earl, Dorothy Hollifield and Patricia Spencer; and brother, Max Vipond.
In addition to her children, she is survived by five grandchildren, Rachel (Drew) Grider, Kelly, Erin, Jake, and Drew; great-granddaughter, Lilah Grider; twin great-grandchildren expected in August; sister, Shirley (Jack) Deardorf of Irving, Texas, and brother-in-law Otto Schoeppler of Klosters, Switzerland.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a caring nurse, Vi loved swimming, sewing, gardening, seasonal decorating, and making the holidays special for her family and friends.
