Shirley P. Contenza Obituary
Shirley P. Contenza, 85, longtime resident of Wickliffe, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018 after a battle with cancer.
Shirley was born on March 14, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan; married the love of her life, Richard, on August 6, 1954 and moved to northeast Ohio in 1955.
Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was the beloved wife of Richard for 62 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who supported her family through their endeavors and achievements. She was a faithful caregiver to family, friends and neighbors. Shirley enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and baking. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
Shirley is survived by her son, Michael (Lee-Ann) Contenza; daughter, Kathleen (Mark) Anthony; grandson, Dominic Contenza; brother-in-law, Harvey (Lucy) Contenza; sister-in-law, Matilda (Kenneth, deceased) Franks; sister-in-law, Constance (Donald, deceased) Contenza ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Contenza in 2017; parents, Helen Czarny and William Yost; and sister, Collette D. Modrzynski.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Avenue, Wickliffe, Ohio. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
