Stanley Roger Zona Obituary
Stanley Roger Zona, 71, of Mentor for the past three years and formerly of Chardon, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
He was born Feb. 26, 1942, at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland.
Mr. Zona was a retired City of Cleveland firefighter. He was also a retired volunteer firefighter for the Hambden Volunteer Fire Department.
Stanley was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a lifetime member of the N.R.A., a member of the Mentor Senior Center and a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Chardon.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Deanna J. "Dee" Zona; sons, William S. "Bill" (Sherie) Zona of Clarion, Pa., and Roger S. Zona of Cleveland; grandchildren, Joseph, Sarah and Kaitlyn; sisters, Diana Cook of Parma, Carol (Edward) Gaydosh of North Royalton and Sandra (Drew) Borisa of Middleburg Heights; uncle, Chester (Leona) Domino of Medina; and brother-in-law, Terry Hageman of Westlake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley J. and Stella Zona; and sisters, Kathy S. Hageman and Judith (Martin) Holz.
Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
