Dante Aquila, 82, of Euclid, passed away Jan. 1, 2012, at Cardinal Woods Skilled Nursing in Madison Township.
Born May 20, 1929, in Euclid, she had been a resident of Euclid for the past 50 years.
Dante was a U.S.
veteran, serving in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion, Collinwood Post 759, the
. Euclid Post 1056, the Euclid Veterans Association and Collinwood Memories. Dante enjoyed working in the yard, and especially loved growing roses, swiss chard, tomatoes, and figs.
Survivors are his sister, Frances Lemmo; brothers, Tony and Sam; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia (nee DeRose); parents, Joseph and Carmella (nee Bevacqua); and brothers, Joseph, Andy, Tom, and Baby Sam.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at DiCicco and Sons Funeral Home, 5975 Mayfield Road, Mayfield Heights.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Holy Redeemer Church, 15712 Kipling Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110. The Rev. Marty Polito will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dante's name to Holy Redeemer Church, (see address above).
Arrangements are being handled by Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home in Chester Township.
