A tribute service for James C. Eismon, 74, of Auburn Township, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at his residence where the family will receive friends to celebrate his life from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. He was a long-time resident of Auburn Township, previously living in Munson Township. Jim worked many years as an educator in the school districts of Mayfield, Richmond Heights, Kenston and Garrettsville. He retired from the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation. Born Aug. 9, 1939, in Mt. Zion, W.Va., he was a graduate of Kent State and John Carroll Universities earning a masters in education administration. Jim was a former member of Euclid Lodge No. 599 F & AM of Ohio. He loved playing and coaching football and wrestling. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, building homes and watching westerns and the History Channel. He was passionate about the care and treatment of animals. Jim is described by his family as kind, sensitive, compassionate, a gentleman, stubborn and with a quirky, dry sense of humor.
He is survived by his former wife, Patricia; loving children, James P. (Brittany) and Jennifer (Jon Sabo); grandchildren, Ava and Tommy; siblings, Jack (Mary Ellen), Vonda Dalessandro and Ron (Lil); Jim was the dear uncle and great-uncle of many; he is also survived by his faithful dog and best friend, Charlie.
Mr. Eismon was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Grace Eismon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Geauga Humane Society's Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Road, Russell Township, OH 44072.
