Helen C. Barnes, 91, of Mentor and formerly of Parma Heights and Rockville, Md., passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Emeritus of Mentor.
Born Aug. 31, 1922, in Cleveland, Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker. She worked for IBM's Cleveland office prior to her marriage in 1952, after which she moved to the Washington, D.C. area. She lived in Rockville, Md., for 52 years before returning to Cleveland.
Survivors are her children, Albert (Christine) Barnes, Michael Barnes and Mary Barnes Embody; and grandchildren, Robert (Kristin) Barnes, and Margaret and Julia Embody. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and other family members.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Barnes; and her siblings, Stella Gaizutis, Albert Matulis, Peter Matulis and Adele Renker.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Private family inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brookpark at a later date.
