Sylvia J. DeFisher, 61, of Mentor, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at her residence.
Born Sept. 6, 1952, in Bay Village, she was a longtime Burton resident before moving to Mentor 24 years ago.
Ms. DeFisher was an electronic communications specialist with Progressive Insurance Company for many years. She was an award-winning apple pie maker, and a wonderfully devoted mother and loving grandmother.
Sylvia was a selfless woman who loved dogs, traveling, and was a humorous sister and dear daughter.
Survivors are her children, Erin (Kreso) Ticak of Willoughby and Nick (Amanda) DeFisher of Channahon, Ill.; grandchildren, Madeline, Andrew and Hallie; mother, Wilma Sweet of Burton; and sister, Jennifer Schweit of Burton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Graydon Sweet Jr.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Burton Congregational Church 14558 West Park St., Burton.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Private family inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville at a later date.
