Services for Franz ""Frank"" Ljubec, 77, a longtime Lake County resident, will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. prior to services. He will be returned to his homeland for his final internment.
Born Jan. 11, 1937, in Ptuj, Slovenia, he passed away Feb. 21, 2014, at Hospice House in Cleveland.
Mr. Ljubec came to this country from Slovenia (the former Yugoslavia) in 1956, and became a U.S. citizen in 1963. He owned and operated Franz Truck and Towing Service in Painesville for many years.
Over the last several years, he spent a lot of time in his vegetable garden and polka dancing, and had a love for his dog, Pumpkin.
Frank is survived by his three children, Gina Ljubec of Fayetteville, Ark., Tammy Ljubec of Painesville and Adam (Melinda) Ljubec of Montville; and granddaughter, Pamela Brown of Wickliffe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, OH 44060.
