Hazel (Southwick) Tambascio Obituary
Hazel (Southwick) Tambascio, 95, of Willoughby, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Mentor.
She was born Nov. 17, 1918, in Gates Mills, to John Southwick and Nellie Ball. Her ancestors were some of the earliest pioneers to settle Gates Mills. The ancestral house where she was born was the birthing home of the generation before her. She was proud of her heritage.
Hazel was a member of Willoughby United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Tambascio leaves two children, Judy (Edward) Jonas of Wickliffe, and John (Michelle) Tambascio of Spring, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Ryan; brother, Forrest (Betty) Southwick; and sister-in-law, Laverne Southwick.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Nicholas Tambascio; and brothers, William (Mable) Southwick, Albert (Mary) Southwick; and Frank Southwick.
Hazel was a very happy and kind person. She always had a smile on her face. She worked for a dentist, a dental lab, and later had a beauty salon in Willoughby. Hazel was an avid reader. She spent about 27 years in Florida, returning in 2004. She lived a very full and active life. She passed away at Mentor Way Nursing Home where she made many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing.
The family suggests contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
Gattozzi & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
