Private family services were held for Raymond R. ""Ray"" Rinaldi, 90, of Willoughby. Memorial service to be arranged at a later date.
Mr. Rinaldi passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born May 19, 1923, in Monnessen, Pa., he had been a Lake County resident for the past 62 years, living in Willoughby.
He was a U.S.

For many years, he was the first cornetist with the Lakewood Hometown Band of which he was also a guest conductor. Raymond was a prominent Cleveland area trumpeter, who also had a distinguished career as an instrumental director in the Kirtland Schools and the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools. His bands achieved top ratings and developed state and regional recognition for their tradition of excellence.
He was a clinician at the University of Akron, a solo contest adjudicator and a consultant for a number of school concert and jazz bands in the area. Mr. Rinaldi had been one of the most sought after professional trumpeters in greater Cleveland. His past credits included regular performances for the top entertainers at MusiCarnival, the Hanna and Palace Theaters, the Coliseum, Blossom Center Band, Ringling Bros. Circus and spent 17 years in the Front Row Theater Orchestra. He was also a member of the Lakeland Civic Band and The Sounds of Sousa Band.
He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Donna C. (nee McGriff) Rinaldi; loving father of Suzanne A. (Donald) Rezabek and Diane L. (Michael) Williams; cherished grandfather of Gregory A. (fiancée, Jessica Farr) Rezabek, Stephanie N. (Brian) Suter, Timothy M. Williams, C. Todd (Mary) Williams and Amanda M. Rose (Randall Quay); brother of Ernest Rinaldi; brother-in-law of Nicolina Rinaldi; and beloved uncle of nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his many beloved friends, students and caregivers at Mentor Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, who were all like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa (nee Calabria) Rinaldi; and brother, John Rinaldi.
The family suggests contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby or the
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
