Clarence R. Korfmann Obituary
Clarence R. Korfmann, age 95, of Painesville Twp. for the past 3 years, formerly of Asheville, N.C., and longtime past Mentor resident, died Sunday March 23, 2014 at Harbor Care Assisted Living in Fairport Harbor.
He was born Feb. 15, 1919 in Flushing, N.Y.
Mr. Korfmann worked for the former Addressograph-Multigraph company, first in Philadelphia, Pa., then at headquarters in Euclid, Ohio, and finally in Arlington Heights, Ill., retiring from there as a Product Manager after over 40 years of service to the company.
Clarence had been a dedicated member of Christ Lutheran Church in Willoughby while living in Mentor, serving as a deacon, an elder, and president of the church council for two terms. He also had been an organizer, president, and coach for many years of the youth baseball program at the former Mentor Recreation Park in Mentor. An excellent athlete in his youth, Clarence enjoyed participating in sports of all types throughout his life, playing baseball into his thirties, softball well into his fifties, and golf with his son and grandson until he was 93 years old.
Clarence will be remembered by all who knew him as an exceptional husband and father, one who gave freely of his time and efforts to his son and daughter in support of their activities throughout their youth and young adulthood. An outstanding bridge player, he also taught his wife's bridge club the game, helping ten or more ladies learn to become capable players of their own.
The family would like to thank Grace Hospice and Harbor Care Assisted Living for the exceptional care shown to their husband, father and grandfather while under their care.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ethelyn G. (Entriken) Korfmann; daughter, Ellen (Jack) Roshong of Painesville Twp.; and son, Robert (Alana) Korfmann of Granger, Ind.; as well as four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Preston Korfmann; parents, Clarence and Anna Korfmann; and brother Robert Korfmann.
Arrangements Entrusted to Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
