William A. "Bill" Rigo Sr. Obituary
William A. "Bill" Rigo Sr., 81 of Mentor, died Sunday May 18, 2014 at Emeritus of Newell Creek, Mentor, with his family by his side.
He was born November 5, 1932 in Painesville.
Mr. Rigo was a retired Vice President and Financial Consultant for the former AG Edwards Investments in Mentor. He entered the investment field in 1965. Prior to that he worked at the News Herald, as a reporter and then as the classified manager. He also work for the Great Lakes Mall, where he promoted the auto, boat and flower shows.
Bill was a veteran of the US Army. Prior to that he graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in 1950, then attended John Carroll University.
Bill was a man of many interests. He was a car enthusiast and model railroader. He enjoyed flying and received his pilot's license in 1964. He also enjoyed boating and joined Mentor Harbor Yachting Club in 1980 and became Captain of the Power Fleet in 1985. He is a member of and attended daily mass at the Chapel of the Divine Word in Kirtland and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Osprey, FL. He and Judy spent their winters in Florida and belonged to Stonebrook Golf & Country Club in Sarasota where they made many close friends.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Judith M. (Barnes) Rigo; five sons, Bill, Jr. (Carolyn) of Painesville Twp, Jim (Joanne) of Bradenton, FL, Ted (Mary) of Mentor, Andy (Colleen) of Mentor and Harry (Jennifer) of Perry; 13 grandchildren, Emily, Jaclyn, Veronica, Steve, Joey, Michael, David, Mary Catherine, Jack, Andrew, Will, Libby and Maddie; nephew, Rick Rigo of Greenville, SC.
He was preceded in death by his infant son; parents, Andrew J. and Mary Rigo and brother, Richard Rigo Sr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave. Mentor.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Chapel of the Divine Word 8100 Eagle Rd., Kirtland. Please meet at the church.
Interment will be in Willoughby Cemetery, Willoughby.
