George Louis "TV George" Varady Obituary
Funeral Mass for George Louis "TV George" Varady, 80, of Willowick, will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick. Fr. Ron Wearsch will officiate.
Mr. Varady passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born Jan. 13, 1934, in McRoberts, Ky., he had lived in Solon before moving to Lake County 11 years ago, living in Willowick.
He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, Stephen Minister, Stephen Minister Leader and as a member of the Beautification Committee at St. Mary Magdalene. Mr. Varady was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Post 1863 in Solon, V.F.W. Post 3863 in Eastlake, V.F.W. Post 1500 in Willoughby, American Legion Post 678 Willowick-Eastlake, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2300 in Willoughby and the Chagrin Salmon Fishing Association. He loved his family and his church very much. He also loved to play golf and fish for perch on Lake Erie.
Mr. Varady worked at Picker International for 17 years. Before that, he had his own TV repair business.
He was the beloved husband of Suzanne F. (nee Wilbraham) Varady; loving father of Debra Martin; cherished grandfather of Renee (Shawn Allen) Martin, Jennifer (Michael) Moylan, Carrie Beth (Mark) Bobeczko and Robert Ciora; great-grandfather of Dakota Martin, Hannah Moylan and Emma Allen, Benny Ciora and Olivia Ciora; brother of Helen (Mort) Semon and Mary Ann (Steven) Nemsick; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Kathern (nee Addair) Varady; son, Nathan Dale; parents, Louis and Emma (nee Revere) Varady; and siblings, Eugene Varady and Irene Gregory.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
