Rita E Mascha, 83, passed away June 18, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Cleveland on April 19, 1931 to James and Elizabeth Rastatter (both deceased). She married her husband of 33 years, Edward J. Mascha Sr. (deceased). Together they raised their family and lived in Willowick for almost 60 years.
Rita was the director of religious education at St. Mary Magdalene and an active parishioner for over 55 years. She was a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She was a very spiritual woman with a special devotion to St. Therese of the Little Flower. She loved gardening, especially her rose garden. She enjoyed lighthouses and watching sunsets down at the lake. She was co-owner of the Comet Glass Company that she and her husband founded in 1963. She was one of the original founding members of the E. 314 St. Pinochle Club, which met monthly for over 50 years.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Mascha, Edward (Adriana) Mascha Jr., Mary (Tim) Sarver, Jerry (Eileen) Mascha, Thomas (Erin) Mascha, and Richard (Eileen) Mascha; grandmother of Timothy, Dan (Jackie), and Justin (Jamie) Sarver, Lauren (Dan Gliha), Kristen (Omar Jufko), Nicole, Emmett, Payton, Grace, Nathan, Willem, Lilly, Gwen, Isabella, Emmanuel Mascha; great grandmother of Elijah, Dylan, Owen, and Gavin; sister of Thomas (Millie) Rastatter;
sister in law of William LoPresti, Sally and Peggy Rastatter, Margie (Ray) Kuchta and Mary Lou Pelc.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Lillian Paton, James Rastatter, Mary LoPresti, Jerry and Elizabeth Rastatter; sister in law of Sr. Joanne Marie Mascha, OSU
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday June 21, 2014 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd. Eastlake.
