Erma J. Knepper, 89, of South Euclid, died peacefully June 15, 2014 at McGregor Home.
Erma was born March 1, 1925, in Bowling Green, where she met and married Daryl Knepper in 1946.
She worked as a bank teller during her young adult years. She later worked at American Greetings in Cleveland in the Accounts Payable Department for many years. She enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing and golf. She was a member of the U.S. Amateur Ballroom Dance Association and was involved in competitive ballroom dancing. She assisted her partner David Simpson with setting up and providing music for ballroom dance competitions. She was a member of the Scottish Heritage Society and volunteered at the Scottish Games in Oberlin. She had been a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church for many years. She lived in Lakewood for 45 years. She was frequently described as easy going. She celebrated her 39th birthday 51 times before her death on June 15, 2014.
She is survived by her son, James (Debbie) of Evergreen, CO; daughter, Linda Rainey (David) of South Euclid; grandchildren, Emily Rainey-Barger (Richard), Heather Rainey, Tiffany Pew (Joshua), Ronald A. Draughon; and great grandchildren, Zoey and Evelyn Pew; sister, Velma Kirchner of FL; brother in law, Ronald Draughon; she was the dear aunt and great aunt of many.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daryl of 32 years; daughters, Sandra Draughon; parents, George Glenn and Drella (nee Mollett) Shanower; brother, Lee Shanower; sister, Leota Feller (Joseph, deceased); brother in law, Robert Kirchner; companion, David Simpson for 25 years.
A Celebration of Life Service in memory of Erma will take place Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Church, 3031 Monticello Blvd Cleveland Heights, OH Pastor Dr. John Lentz will officiate. Private Inurnment at West Park Cemetery, Cleveland,
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Erma Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of South Euclid, 4600 Mayfield Road (just east of Green Rd)
