Laurie Yowell

Obituary Condolences

Laurie Yowell, age 65, was lifted up into the arms of the Lord she loved so passionately on July 4, 2014. Her brave battle against illness is over and she is free to sing and dance again.
She was born on July 7, 1948, in Euclid, Ohio, to Dr. Jack and Dorothy (Barnard) Whitaker.
She graduated from Euclid High School in 1966. She met her beloved and devoted husband, Timothy Yowell, while attending Kent State. They were married on September 6, 1969. Their daughter Bethany Hope Yowell, born November 8, 1973, was their greatest gift from God. She was always Laurie's "Best Girl".
Laurie had a wonderful sense of humor and an unbelievable memory for facts. She loved flowers, games, movies, traveling, and swimming in their pool. She looked forward to the Bible Study groups she and Tim hosted in their home. They were members of Vineyard Community Church of Wickliffe. Laurie was on the first women's Koinonia (K2) weekend in Lake County. She also enjoyed an 18 year career as an emergency room nurse at Lake West.
Surviving are her husband Tim and daughter Beth; sisters-in-law, Korki Whitaker, Christine (Rick) Provard, Martha (Tom) Stefanek, Susan Yowell; brother-in-law, Robert (Diane) Yowell; godson, Jayson Stefanek; aunt, Barbara Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Geoffrey Whitaker; sister-in-law, Nancy Yowell; and niece, Sarah (Ruksenos) Scherer.
The family is grateful for the wonderful care given to Laurie by the staff of University Hospital and the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland.
A celebration of Laurie's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Vineyard Community Church, 1928 E 300th St., Wickliffe. Ohio. 44092.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vineyard Community Church, 1928 E 300th Street, Wickliffe, or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland 44110.
Arrangements entrusted to Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060.
