Melanie Jean "Mimi" (nee Nieszczur) Nared, 54, of Mentor, passed away July 7, 2014, after battling lung cancer for the past year. She was surrounded by her loving family and fought courageously until the end.
She was born June 28, 1960.
Melanie loved the outdoors, especially Mentor Headlands Beach. She was looking forward to Beachfest this year.
Melanie was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked for St. John Vianney church, provided secretarial work for the Mentor-on-the-Lake Fire Department, and worked for Dollar Tree for the past several years. Melanie also helped care for her grandkids up until a few months ago.
Through the 1980s and 1990s, Melanie along with her husband helped with St. John Vianney's religious education program. She taught so many young children the way of the Lord. She is now home and finished with her journey here on earth. "Melanie has touched the hearts of many and will live on forever through every one of us."
Melanie is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, David; children, Jennifer (Craig Heppner), John, and Sandy; loving grandchildren, Shandi, Jeffrey III, Hannah and Jenna, and also Tyler and Austin Heppner; sisters, Kathy (Bob) Maier, Diane (George) Lesnansky, Adele (Mark) Blech, Mary Przela and Elaine Nieszczur; brothers, Gary (Diane) Nieszczur and Myron (Sue) Nieszczur; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Victor Nared; brother-in-law, Paul (Kathi) Nared; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Michael; mother, Helen; father, Leonard; stepfather, Frank Sr.; and siblings, Leonard, Darlene and Thomas.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the McMahon-Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615,north of Route 2), Mentor.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday July 11, 2014, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor. (Please meet at the church.) Burial will be Friday in Mentor Cemetery.
