Elmer "Bud" Cooke, age 90, of Mentor, passed away June 23, 2014 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 6, 1924.
Mr. Cooke retired as an engineer from GE after 37 years. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a bombardier. He was a graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute, Ind., and attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, in Terre Haute, Ind., where he was a member of Sigma Nu. He was a member of the American Legion in FL, the Quarter Century club at GE and the Senior Center in Mentor. He was also an avid golfer and bridge player.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Alice Cooke; son Tom Cooke; daughter Kathy Cooke; son Jim (Galit) Cooke; grandchildren Ron Cooke and Ilan (Keren) Cooke; great grandchildren Maya and Eilah Cooke; sisters Dorothy (Alex) Maxwell and Mary Lou (Kenny) Reed and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alonzo and Viola Cooke; brother Tom and sister in law Betty.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland.
