Norris E. Wheeler, age 88, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on July 13, 2014. |
Norris was born on December 11, 1925, in Montville, and a 62 yr. resident of Painesville.
Mr. Wheeler retired from the City of Painesville, Dept. of Utilities, as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of St. Mary Church and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, bowling, gardening, watching TV game shows, bird watching, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many.
He is survived by his wife, Philomena (Cicconetti) Wheeler, whom he married on Sept. 20, 1952; sons, Fred (Sherrie) Wheeler of Painesville Twp., James (Helena) Wheeler of Painesville Twp.; daughters, Grace (Martin) Sroczynski of Mentor, Diane (Steve) Barnhouse of Perry; grandchildren, Bradley Karlovec, Sr., Zach Barnhouse, Cassie Barnhouse, Molly Wheeler, Daniel Wheeler, Kelly Moore, Dennis Moore, Michael Moore, and Joseph Moore; great-grandchildren, Bradley Karlovec, Jr. and Hunter McCandless; sister, Margaret (Harlyn) Stoltz of Newbury.
Norris was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mildred (Phillips) Wheeler; siblings, twin brother Morris and Robert Wheeler, Harriet Goodfield, and Anna Mae Marie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
