Obituary Condolences

Robert A. Shampay, 86, recently of Mentor, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Burton Health Care Center in Burton.
He was born on March 19, 1928, in Cleveland, He was the son of Alexander and Eva (Rauch) Shampay.
Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran who served 1950-1952 in Korea and Japan. He also played in the 276th Army Band at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. After serving in the Army he became an Insurance Claims Adjuster. He loved music, played the saxophone, and was a leader of the "Swingtime Big Band" in the area. He was a member of the American Legion Post #678 in Willowick and the VFW Post #3863 in Eastlake.
He will be missed by his friends and family, his two children, Janis (Phil Wilmarth) Shampay and Robert J. (Julie) Shampay; and his granddaughter, Natalie Rose Shampay.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alexander Shampay; and two sisters, Margaret Mlakar and Mary Ruth "Bunny" Vaughan.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman, OH 44270.
A Celebration of Life and Music will be held 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 23 at the American Legion Post #0672, 570 East 328th St., Willowick, 44095. Russell Funeral Service in Middlefield assisted family with arrangements. Online condolences
