1931 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Funeral Mass for John J. "Jack" Garry, 83, of Estero, Fla., will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Holy Martyrs Church, 3100 Old Weymouth Road, Medina. Fr. Stephen Dohner will officiate.
Mr. Garry passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his residence.
Born Jan. 10, 1931, in Cleveland, he had lived in Willoughby, Concord Township and Medina before moving to Estero, Fla., 18 years ago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, charter and founding member of the Irish-American Club East Side Inc., where he was one the original 12 Apostles of the Irish American Club. Jack was also very active in the Breckenridge Community in Estero, Fla.
Mr. Garry was a proud member of the Pipefitters Local 120, since 1956.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Joanna H. (nee Belanich) Garry; loving father of Rita (Anthony) Garry Esposito of Medina, Patricia Ann Garry of Powell, Joanna L. (Michael) Fanning of Westlake and Edward M. Garry of New York, N.Y.; cherished grandfather of Riley, Liam, Deirdre and Clare; brother of Mary Terese Hurley; uncle of nieces and nephews; and cousin of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary (nee Lowry) Garry; siblings, Edward E. Garry, William Garry, Robert D. Garry and Ann O'Driscoll; and brother-in-law, Edward Hurley.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Chambers Funeral Home, 4420 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland, and one hour prior to the Mass Saturday, Aug. 2, at Holy Martyrs Church in Medina. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Medina.
