Tyrrell J. Caplinger, age 74, of Painesville passed away July 26, 2014, at Euclid Hospital.
He was born May 11, 1940 in Painesville, Ohio. He had been a lifelong Painesville area resident.
Mr. Caplinger enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, bowling and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed spending time at the Painesville Senior Center shooting pool with his friends. He retired from Hall Chemical in Euclid and had previously been employed at Sawyer Research and the Diamond Shamrock.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Sandra (Bonnema); daughters, Kelly (Donald) Ferron and Kendra Ahlborn; and son Michael (Stacey) Caplinger. He also leaves his grandchildren, Meghan, Taylor, Cody, Jagon, Shaylee, Abigail and Nolan; and three great-grandchildren; as well as his sister, Margaret Hall; and brother Harold Caplinger.
Mr. Caplinger was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eleanor (McCue) Caplinger; grandparents, Arland and Martha "Dolly" McCue; and his brother, Carl G. Caplinger.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Shirley Frantz of Harpersfield United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
