George J. "Boomer" Kleinschrodt, age 89, of Avon Park, Fla., passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014.
He was born August 5, 1924, in Newark, to George and Anna (Klaus) Kleinschrodt.
George was a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Columbus, member and past Adjutant of the American Legion Post 69 in Avon Park, Fla., Masonic Temple in Columbus, VFW Post 4300 in Sebring, Fla., 40 & 8 Voiture 899 in Avon Park, Fla., National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 78 in Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and a resident of Avon Park, Fla., since 1984, coming from Reynoldsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Kleinschrodt of Avon Park, Fla.; daughter, Sandra Hoffer (Dale) of Crestline; son, Lee Spangler (Susan) of Lithopolis; five grandchildren, Scott Baldy, Juli Knoblock, Lori Klimionok, Joseph Baldy and Amy Spangler; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nephews, Jim and Rick Gebeau.
