Virginia G. Getch, age 91, a lifelong resident of Perry Township, died Monday, August 4, 2014, at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1923, in Painesville.
Mrs. Getch attended the Hungarian Reformed Church in Fairport Harbor for over 30 years, where she was a member of the women's choir and women's fellowship for many years. She was also a member of the Hope Chest, Lake County Historical Society, Perry Senior Center and the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation.
Mrs. Getch volunteered for the American Cancer Society, the Tuberculosis drive, American Heart Society, March of Dimes and Project Hope for the Homeless.
Survivors include her children, William "Bill" (Peggy) Getch of Rock Creek, Kay Plank of Painesville and David Getch of Rock Creek; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Louise Buchs of Grand River.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Getch; son, Donald "Don" Getch; parents, Willard and Lillian Whipple; sisters, Florence McGee and Lucille Szoka; and grandson, Arthur Getch.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 607 Plum St., Fairport Harbor, OH 44077.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Interment will be in Perry Township Cemetery.
