Edward J. Henckel
Edward J. Henckel, age 80, of Concord Twp., passed away Aug. 24, 2014, at his daughter's home in Eastlake surrounded by his family
He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Ohiopyle, Pa.
Edward co-owned, with his son, Phase III Auto Body in Painesville and was previously employed by Anchor Hocking Glass in Pa., and Lincoln Electric for 40 years. He served in the US Army and was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church where he served as an usher for 24 years. He was a member of American Legion He was a member of the "Country Grass" Band for 15 years. He was a guitar player and a singer and song writer of country and bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, whom he met in High School, Violet F. (Soliday) Henckel; son, Rodney (Nancy) Henckel; daughters, Kimberley (Randall) Henckel-Inzano, Renee (Rodney) Ely; six grandchildren, Angel Ray, Michelle, Matthew, and Melissa Ferron, Edward and Chad Ely; and four great-grandchildren Kaden, Braylen, Kinsley Ray, Brooklynne Tankovich
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dora (Little) Henckel; brother, Lawrence Henckel; sister, Ruby Maddas; and great-grandson, Timothy Michael Ferron
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9935 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery.
