Obituary Condolences

Jeanne Louise Dewalt Wenzel, age 91, of Chardon, died September 1, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, in Concord Township.
She was born March 20, 1923, in Mentor, Jeanne lived in Chardon for 70 years.
Jeanne was the Chief Deputy Clerk of Courts for Geauga County for 50 years, retiring in 1991. Jeanne was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan, she enjoyed bowling and animals. She was a member of Former Ruby Chapter Eastern Star, Chardon, and an active volunteer for the Geauga County Sheriff's Department "R U OK" program. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanne was spunky and had a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Blythe J. (Leo Elersic) Wenzel of Munson Township; son, Douglas H. (Jane) Wenzel of Chardon; two grandchildren, Melisa DeMell of Concord Township and Heath Wenzel of Chardon; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Timmy DeMell; and step-grandson, Michael J. Elersic of Las Vegas, Nev.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Edward J. Wenzel, whom she married May 12, 1946, April 21, 2008. She also was preceded by her parents, Ralph and Luella (nee Ryder) Dewalt; and siblings, Beatrice Reed and Clement Dewalt.
Private family burial was held in Larned Cemetery, Chardon Township.
