Robert "Bob" Bush Obituary
Robert "Bob" Bush, age 80, of Willoughby, died Nov. 30, 2010, at UHHS Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township. He was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Cleveland, and lived in Chardon for 11 years before moving to Willoughby earlier this year. Mr. Bush was an independent insurance agent for 55 years in Willoughby Hills. Bob Bush married Harriet Ramsten on Nov. 23, 1951, in Cleveland Heights. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 1949 graduate of Brush High School, playing football, baseball and running track. He was inducted into the Brush High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Bush was a member of the Mayfield JC's, Lions Club, Elks Lodge 549 and sang in the Hilltoppers Barber Shop Chorus for many years. He coached boys and girls Little League Baseball teams in Highland Heights when his children were young. Mr. Bush enjoyed bowling, fishing, sailing and boating, tennis, camping, traveling and nature. For decades, he and his family enjoyed their Chautauqua Lake property. He was a member of the Mentor Lagoons Yacht Club. An avid golfer, he conceived and hosted the Bush Classic Golf Tournament, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this past summer. His son, Erik, and close friends plan to continue the annual event in his honor. Survivors are his wife, Harriet (nee: Ramsten) Bush; children, Linda (Gary Anderson) Bush of Pilot Point, Texas, Erik (Beth) Bush of Alpharetta, Ga., and Laura Bush of Chardon; grandchildren, Karl Anderson, Jessica and Justin Bush, Ben and Brandon Rude, and Carlyn and Lisa Rowe; brothers, Clarence (Gerry) Bush of Bedford, Ralph (Evie) Bush of Mentor, and Ronald (Nancy) Bush of Mentor; and brother-in-law, David Henning of Willowick. He was preceded in death by his son, Karl Bush; parents, Arnold L. and Elizabeth (nee: Buehner) Bush; sister, Arlene Henning; and in-laws, Fred and May (nee: Palm) Ramsten. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon. Pastor Dan Drew of the church will officiate at services. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on State Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon, and immediately following the service at the church.
