Richard John Hlabse, 85, of Wickliffe, passed away Nov. 7, 2011, at Hospice House in Cleveland.

Born April 10, 1926, in Cleveland, and had lived in Wickliffe 48 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a 50-year member of the American Legion in Collinwood, where he was a past commander, and was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Wickliffe. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He set an example for his family with his caring ways.
Mr. Hlabse retired from American Printing and Label Company in Cleveland.
Survivors are her children, Steven (Ruth), Phil (Dianne), Deacon Paul Sr. (Joanne) and Trish (Scott) Skrjanc; grandchildren, Steven (Tanya), Geoffrey, Jason and Justin (Liz-fiancee) Hlabse, Michael Malchow, Jennifer Malchow, Allison (Ron) Civitarese, Richard, David (Enrichetta) and Matthew Hlabse, Randy, Terry and Brad Kooyman, Paul Jr. Hlabse, Melissa (Michael) Mastroianni and Kelly Skrjanc; great-grandchildren, Payton, Rylee, Quinn, Terry, Mason, Dillon, Cameron, Luke, Ava, Aidan and Kate; sisters-in-law, Elenoar, Helen and Fran Hlabse and Marie Laurienzo; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Antoinette L. Hlabse (Cioffi); and many brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37932 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
