John B. "Poppa" Palla Obituary
John B. ""Poppa"" Palla, age 78, of Middlefield for the past 12 years formerly of Mentor, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township.
He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Cleveland.
Mr. Palla was a retired journeyman machinist for the former Eaton Axle in Cleveland for 28 years.
John was an avid Mentor Cardinals and New York Yankee's fan.
Mr. Palla was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his children, Michael Palla of Anderson, S.C., Theresa (Jack) Whittington of Willoughby Hills, Colleen Jordan of Saluda, Va., Christine (Beau) Cummins of Vancleave, Miss., Daniel Palla of Midlothian, Va., John P. (Shari) Palla of Middlefield, Suzanne (Harrison ""Junior"") Lucas of Winfield, W.Va. and Jennifer (Lorenzo) Palla of Westerville; 21 grandchildren, Lauren Marie, Ashley Elizabeth, Michael John, Matthew, Trisha, Deanna, Greg, Michael, Joshua, Robert, Sean, Amber, Danielle, Desiree, John Matthew, Christopher, Samantha, Staysha, Harrison ""J.R."" III, Payton and Jaiden; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ryley, Jackson, Scarlet, Victoria, Olivia, Willow, Kennedy, Kameron and Kingston; sister, Joan (Johnny) Caputo of Strongsville; former wife, Jimmye (Wayne) Ardo of Burton; and mother-in-law, Eunice ""Mammaw"" Cooper of Burton.
Preceding John in death are his parents, John Bernard and Bertha Palla; and brothers, Billy and Kiernan Palla.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.
