Billy J. Floyd, age 81, of Mentor for the past 58 years, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
He was born Sept. 28, 1931, in Weakly County, Tenn.
Mr. Floyd was a maintenance man at the Great Lakes Mall for the past 20 years. Before that, he was a drill press operator for the former Address-O-Graph/Multi-graph Company in Euclid and a stock person for various grocery stores in Lake County.
Billy served in the U.S. Army during the
. He enjoyed working in his garden, playing his guitar, listening to country music and being with his family. He was a strong, proud, vibrant man who was full of life.
Billy is survived by his wife for 56 years, Karen Floyd; son, Mark (Babette) Floyd of Mentor; daughter, Sue (Dave) Nines of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Carrie (Jason) Popp, Jeffrey Floyd, Danny (Beth) Nines and Charlie Nines; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sam, Landon and Broden; and sisters, Mildred Page of Paducah, Ky., and Sara (Otis) Foster of Memphis, Tenn.
Preceding Billy in death are his parents: Thurman and Mary Floyd, seven brothers and sisters: Henry Lynn, Deadum, Maron, Brooksie, Nell and Eller.
Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
