James Walter "Leroy" "Andy" Anderson, 85, of Perry since his marriage to Ruth Averill Feb. 14, 1953, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Grassflat, Pa., to Mary (Anderson) and Arnold Anderson.
Andy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was passionate about his recent Honor Flight experience. Andy worked as a First Mate for the Boland Cornelius Steamship Company in Buffalo.
He worked as a storeroom supervisor at Lubrizol in Wickliffe for 32 years, retiring in 1989.
Andy was a 50-year member of the Painesville Masonic Lodge. During the 1970s and 1980s, Andy served as a Lake County Fair Board Director. He enjoyed traveling and meeting friends at Perry Park and the Perry Family Restaurant. But most of all, Andy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with unlimited love for his family.
He is survived by son, James A. (Cindy) Anderson of Madison; grandsons, Garrison Anderson of Willoughby, Jared Anderson of Mentor and Christopher Anderson of Madison; brothers, Arnold (Dolly) Anderson of Florida and Donald (Barb) Anderson of Pennsylvania; sister, Shirley (Wayne) Johnson of Florida; dear friends, Lena and Savilla Detweiler of Windsor; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; and his parents.
Friends will be received 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Perry United Methodist Church, 3875 Main St., Perry. Final resting place will be at Perry Cemetery.
