Gary H. Freeborn, age 66, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home in Euclid.
He was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Cleveland, and had lived in Mentor before moving to Euclid 15 years ago.
Gary was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1966 to 1968.
He retired from the Mentor Fire Department in 1998, as a lieutenant, after 23 years of service. Gary was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, retired.
Survivors are his children, Patrick and Kerry Freeborn; sister, Diann (John) Loebs; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind Karen Freeborn, the mother of his children.
Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Kennedy.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home, 5252 Mayfield Rd. (between Richmond and Brainard) in Lyndhurst, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Pastor Jan Yandell of East Shore United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be private.
