John Francis "Jack" Maguire, Jr., 66, of Willoughby, formerly of New Haven, Conn., died Friday, March 8, 2013, in Ohio after a brief illness.
Born June 1, 1946, in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of Marian McCartan Maguire of New Haven and the late John F. Maguire Sr.
Jack was retired but had worked as a truck driver for many years, and was a member of the Teamsters Union 477. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam. He enjoyed the more subtle things in life and cherished his solitude. He was a passionate person, a great storyteller, and enjoyed fishing and biking. He had a love for animals. Jack was a loving son, brother, uncle, father and best friend.
In addition to his mother, Jack is survived by his lifelong companion, Katie Fink; and his former wife, Scarlett "Scotty" Maguire; his loving son, John F. (Shelby) Maguire III of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Lawrence (Betty) Maguire of Marlborough, Conn.; four sisters, Mary Jane Schettino and Patricia Ferraro, both of North Branford, Conn., Carole (Joseph) Camerato of Northford, Conn., and Judy (Tom) Cicalese of New Canaan, Conn.; stepdaughter, Jennifer Holleran and her son, Joseph; and several nieces and nephews. His first grandchild, John F. Maguire IV, is expected in April.
A commemorative Mass in memory of John will be held during the regular Masses Sunday, March 17, 2013, at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
