Mass of Christian Burial for James K. Farrell, 85, will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Mr. Farrell was born July 6, 1927, in Cleveland, and passed away June 15, 2013, at Hospice House in Cleveland.
Jim enjoyed being with his grandchildren and volunteered for many groups and organizations throughout Lake County. He was given an award as volunteer of the year, signed by President George W. Bush, in 2002.
Jim was a self-employed plasterer and worked for O'Donnell Plastering for many years. He was also employed by the Illuminating Company.
Survivors are his children, James K. (Julie) Farrell Jr. of Mentor, Donna (John) Tennant of Toledo, Tom (Kim) Farrell of Liberty Township and Patti (Bill) Kramer of Coldwater; grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Anne, Bailey, Riley and Bobby Farrell, Kevin and Kristen Tennant, Chelsea, Brady and Kyle Farrell, Alex, Matthew, Michaela and Katelynn Kramer; great-granddaughter, Holly Tennant; brother, Dennis Farrell; and sisters, Mary Alice Larsen, Peggy Smolka, Jean Sweeney and Ann Hoenigman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Marie (Carabotta); parents, Michael and Eileen (O'Donnell) Farrell; and brother, Joe Farrell.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family for the Little Red Schoolhouse, operated by the Lake County Historical Society.
