Graveside services for Ernest Zeoli, 88, of Painesville Township, were held Saturday at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
Mr. Zeoli passed away June 13, 2013, at Homestead II Nursing Home in Painesville. He was a World War II veteran who served in the European Theatre, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart for bravery in France, Belgium and Germany. He proudly served his country.
Ernest was born in Manongah, W.Va., in 1925. He was employed at the Navy Finance Center in Cleveland for more than 30 years, where he received numerous awards for outstanding performance.
Ernest enjoyed daily breakfasts at McDonald's with his friends.
He is survived by his sisters, Josephine Zeoli of Painesville Township and Jennie Zeoli of Mentor; nephews, Ronald Stowe of Perry and Jeffrey (Carol) Stowe of Painesville Township; nieces, Anna Stowe of Painesville Township, Jane (Ryan) Kaminski of Eastlake and Ada Kaminski of Eastlake; favorite cousins, Carmella Pollutro and Rose Cassetta, both of Painesville; and best friends, Lawrence (Jan) Reif of Bay City, Mich., and Larry Wymor of Rocky River.
Mr. Zeoli was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
