A celebration of life service for Mildred W. Keeney, 89, a lifelong Leroy resident, will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 9415 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor.
Mrs. Keeney peacefully went home to glory on June 20, 2013.
Born Sept. 15, 1923, in Painesville, Mildred graduated from Harvey High School. She married her grade school sweetheart, the late Donald R. Keeney in 1943. After the war, she worked alongside her husband in their businesses, Keeney Excavating, SnoShire snowmobiles and the Triple D Drive-In. She was also the owner and broker of Millstone Realty.
Mildred loved music, sang beautifully and directed church choirs for many years. She loved to serve the Lord, worked faithfully at the Cleveland City Mission and traveled to Honduras on mission teams until just a few years ago. For the last 10 years, she knitted eyeglass cases for missionaries in the Philippines.
Our beloved Nana was dearly loved by her four children, Don (Donna) Keeney, Dennis (Kathy) Keeney, Karrell (Don) Runo and Karen Keeney. She was adored by nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by a brother, Bill (Sallee) Wallace; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of devoted friends all over the world.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Martha Davis; brother, Clifford Wallace; and great-grandchildren, Maiya and Sadie Keeney.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
