Memorial services for Ruth M. (Gallitte) Roberto, 78, of Mentor, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. The Rev. Kent Hobi will officiate. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
Ruth died July 5, 2013, at her home after battling (C.O.P.D.) emphysema for more than 30 years.
Ruth was born April 14, 1935, in Cleveland. She lived in East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights and Mayfield Heights before moving to Mentor in 1967. She was a 1953 graduate of Cleveland Heights High School.
Mrs. Roberto worked for the former Sumwalt-Geffine Agency in Cleveland before her first child was born. She then became a stay-at-home mom.
Ruth loved her family and often told them so. She had many joys - playing bingo, watching her grandsons play sports, the Cleveland Indians, and watching birds and deer. She loved flowers. Ruth had a lot of good ideas and enjoyed sharing them with others. She gave a lot and asked for very little. Her family and those who knew her loved her and will miss her.
The family would like to thank all the people of the Hospice of the Western Reserve (Mentor office) for the wonderful care provided during the extended period of time.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Tony ""A.H."" and Lorene (nee Matthews) Gallitte; and sister, Ann (Wohl) Allinsmith.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Armand; daughters, Diane (Jeff) Tyneski and Karen (Bill) Mierke; and grandsons, Dan and Nick Mierke and Steve (Kristen) Tyneski.
Family suggests donations in Ruth's name be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
