Robert F. ""Bob"" Madison, 79, of Mentor, died Nov. 14, 2013.
Born April 22, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., he was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in journalism.
Mr. Madison began his Caterpillar career in Peoria, Ill., transferred to Hong Kong, returned to Caterpillar's towmotor division in Mentor from which he retired, and then finished his career as a freelance writer. He was also an avid supporter of the arts, music, theatre and a world traveler.
Survivors include his wife and the love of his life of 57 years, Carol (Andrews); daughters, Sherry (Bill) Miller of Massachusetts and Paula Manta of Illinois; son, Bruce Alan (Christine Mallula) Madison of Middleburg Heights; and grandchildren, Erica, Alex and Zachary Manta, and Billy and Andy Miller.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Alice Madison; and brother, Stuart Madison.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m.
