Don C. Dangler Obituary
Don C. Dangler, 85, of Waite Hill, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Fairmount Health Center in Willoughby.
Born Nov. 29, 1927, in New York City, N.Y., he had lived in Waite Hill for the past 43 years.
Don was a World War II veteran. He was a teacher at Eastlake Junior High School and Eastlake North High School for 20 years, where he taught history and English. Don was a graduate of Asheville School for Boys in Asheville, N.C., and Ohio University.
Don was a huge Ohio State fan, and a model train enthusiast ever since he had worked on the railroad at a very young age. He was a supporter of girls' basketball at Eastlake North and Gilmour Academy, and Class A baseball in Lake County.
Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Jane Dangler; brother-in-law, Mark (Elizabeth) Van de Walle of Columbus; sister-in-law, Sharon Van de Walle of Richmond, Va.; and nieces, Ginny (Matt) South of Mentor, Jordy Blackey of North Carolina and Lynn (Chris) Cobb of South Carolina.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys Dangler; and sister, Joan Blackey.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Divine Word Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Waite Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at any Key Bank to the Don Dangler NHS Band Fund or to a in memory of Don.
