William P. Simon, 77, of Kirtland, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at his son's home surrounded by his family.
Born Jan. 16, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Abraham and Mary (Haddad) Simon, William entered the U.S. Army on April 2, 1956, separated Feb. 3, 1958, and was honorably discharged March 30, 1962.
In 2007, Mr. Simon retired from Realty Title Agency Inc., a title business which he started in 1974.
He was a parishioner at St. Maron Church in Cleveland, before moving to Lake County and attending Divine Word Church of Kirtland.
Mr. Simon enjoyed traveling, hosting clambakes at his house for family and friends, attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren and was a season ticket holder for the Browns and the Indians. He enjoyed gambling trips and fishing at his pond with his friends, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Independent Order of the Foresters, and past officer of Court Redwood 1120. He also bowled in a Lebanese bowling league at Chester 30th Lanes.
Survivors include his children, John (Kerrianne) Simon of Kirtland, Marla (Salvador) Gutierrez and Sheryl Simon, both of Willowick; grandchildren, Salvi, Mateo, Abram, Becka and Jared; brother, Robert (Dolores) Simon of Warren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Simon was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; and sisters, Margaret Hallal and Nora Krukemeyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Divine Word Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
